I posted here last year looking for advice on an M6 when low mileage examples(under 30k mile)were hovering around £30-£35k including at dealers. 4 months forward and the prices seem to have stood still and in some cases rose? Limited numbers or time of year. I remember the usual "put-down brigade" telling me that they were losing £1k a month and they could be had for £25k come the turn of the year??? Hmmmmm.

Not me - bought one whilst everyone was scaremongering.

I'm still seeing prviate sales for plenty more than the deal I got as an AUC and even AUC cars aren't coming down further than mine was at in October.

Whether any are actually selling though... :-)

The M5 is like my Dads 520D with a bodykit on it! JOKE. M5 and new M3 was also on my radar but i think the M6 is the one to get.

A friend who is in sales at a Land Rover garage was saying how they are having trouble getting used cars in. People just arent trading up at the moment and as a result, they're currently looking at the supercharged RR Sports (the worst for depreciation) fetching 4k over book price.

The M6 I personally feel will depreciate like mad frown

It has already dropped so much, probably because of the love it or hate it look, and I can't see them holding their value at all. By all means follow your heart, but come re sale you pocket will hate you!

Thats the point of my thread - i posted here last year when they were £35k and they still seem to be at £35k wheras Porsches are losing value like an AMG Mercedes.

I'd say they are closer to £30k if people pay the asking price which represents a 15% fall if they were £35k this time last year.

Not bad considering the state of the market though.

Thats why I'm glad I got out of mine mate! A cracking car but no sign of the depreciation slowing down on them!

In regards to the point of your thread, there is a big difference to asking prices and selling prices, especially on here! For £35k you will get a 15k miles 2006 with all the toys, I know because that is what I was looking at smile

Some dealers are still asking silly money, and that is why they are still stuck with the same stock.

If you are insisting on an M6, buy private and save yourself a lot of money. Have you registered on mtorque? A fovourite haunt of mine for years and full of good info, plus it has a sales section wink

Jeeeeeeeessss!!!!! Give the depreciation chat a rest people!!!! Honestly.....

The M6 will depreciate at the same rate as ANY OTHER CAR SIMILAR IN ITS CLASS... it's not falling off a cliff, it's not doing something hugely different to the market. Scaremongering at the back of last year made them lose a HUGE amount of money. Things in relation to their standard and expected depreciation curve are pretty much back to normal in my opinion and this is why we're not seeing massive drops continue.

As the M6 is a little more specialist/acquired taste/fugly/magical and rare (delete as your prejudiced view dictates... wink ) there are few around and more mainstream models may be suffering more as a result.

But let's all do everyone a huge favour and lay off talking down prices all the time when the fact doesn't back it up any more and hasn't for nearly 3 months so far.

They will depreciate and if you're buying it for its amazing residuals then, quite frankly, you're a mug :-)

To put this in perspective I bought mine for 33k and expect after 3 years of ownership it'll be worth around 16k. IMHO if you go in with your eyes open then this isn't unrealistic.

I think it's pretty accurate what has just been said.
The same has also happened on the e46 m3, where prices dropped xmas time but have slowly creeped back up.

BTW buddy, i'll take your m6 for 16k.......dont mind waiting 3 yrs lol!

Us in the Z4M fold have also noticed this. I'm getting online trade in quotes for more than I paid for my car on a private sale. We'll have to see if this trend lasts as things still appear to be getting gloomier out there at the moment.

Good choice though I love the M6.

Dont forget the M6 is still in the price list at over 80k,until the model is replaced I doubt they will fall much further.

The market isnt exactly flooded with them either!
