Z4Mc on Autotrader - NO running in service
Discussion
If you're thinking of calling about the below car, don't bother. It hasn't had the running in service AT ALL.

Looks lovely... But no running in service means the warranty is suddenly in doubt.. so run away...
Not even in doubt... It's not there! (On the engine, anyway)Although, perhaps it's not so much of an issue, as the car only has 1.5 years 'warranty' remaining, and the seller has said he will provide 1 year's warranty with it, to cover everything, apparently.
But, you'd never sell it in a few years time!

to be fair thats a damn good price for a 57 even without the warranty!
I really don't think it is. I'd pay £17,000 for it.
theres a 57 reg IB coupe on the AUC site, okay its done only 4000 miles but its up for 28k IIRC...
is the potential lack of engine warranty and a few K less on resale worth much more than 8k ?
if your keeping it for a while then there won't be any warranty on it in 18 months anyway, in fact that 8k would probably buy you a new engine if the worst came to the worst... is there even one Z4M thats dropped its motor you've heard of? pretty safe gamble.. just MO

When you come to sell it, let's say @ 60k, a potential buyer would be VERY put off, as it hasn't had the foundations for the engine. It's like buying a house built on quicksand, just because it's a bit cheaper.
All in my opinion, of course. As I've said, at 17k, I'd be tempted. (Oh, and I do agree with you - It's actually more than likely a safe bet, but it's in the event that it goes wrong...)

You wouldnt be able to get an extended warranty on it either.
Which, so far, everyone that owns an M on here, has said is ESSENTIAL.
re the car under discussion, i guess your right the fact that it hasn't had the service at all is certainly worrying... i don't know for sure but was under the impression the "running in" oil is part mineral (all mineral?) as modern synthetic oil is so good(slippy
) it won't let the engine properly run in - could be cr@p though
if thats the case then is beeing running on the wrong oil for 10,000 miles! god knows what thats done to the motor, factoring that in i wouldn't even touch it with your 17 grand....Nano2nd said:

Without the service it can't be sold as a BMW approved used car, so that will significantly affect any future trade in value at a BMW dealer.
What I find amazing is that someone buys a car like this and can't be bothered to get the running in service done, it doesn't even cost anything.

Agree.Seems to be more common on the Z4M considering the numbers sold ..less so on the E46 M3..It's something they didn't mention when I purchased the car. But having had an E46 M3 I knew how imortant it was to have it done..let alone all the stickers reminding you to carry it out..
