E46 M3 AP Racing or Stoptech???
Discussion
I've saved up my cash for my Brake Upgrade and need some advice, now I don't know whether to go for the well known 6 pot AP racing or the Stoptech's, does anybody have any opinion either way? Both look serious options but I'm leaning towards the AP Racing because of their rece pedigree. Welcome your thoughts.....
I have APs all round on my CSL and they are superb. RS29 pads (not too squeeky on the road) allowed me to outbraking a Mk1 GT3 and elises into Goddards everytime. The only thing to watch for is AP discs can be a bit 'hit and miss' in terms of QA. I have Performance Friction front discs and std BM rears.
Thorney is now selling ALCON calipers which have a few improvements for racing. Your best bet is to look around for a set of second-hand APs, all four corners is best, but I know several M3 owners who say that just the fronts work fine with BM rear calipers.

Std 18" M3 wheels back and front 265/35 ZR18 with Dunlop DZ02G. It is on Intrax suspension so a bit lower but that was road camber of about neg 1.5 degrees. Didn't rub at all...
One ones on the right...

Well that didnt seem to scrub the sholders out too much did it.. my exp of stock geo on track was 2 scrap front tryes in 2 hours..
but on -2.5fr -1.75rr neg its much better.. do you rate these tyres over cups..? did you back to back them..? I run cups on track usually .. but I'm always looking for something road legal and better..! shame not much comes in a 19" ..!

OK... I tried a rear CSL rim on the front of mine.. and didnt get away with it.. my best guess is you need 3.5 Degrees neg on the front end to get the clearance you need to do this..
How have you found the front end of the car now.. zero low speed understeer..?
How is it through 75-100 mph bends.. neutral or oversteer biased now..?
