I'm hoping to fit my new induction kit to my E36 tomorrow and I have a quick question. There is a hose coming in to the bottom of the stock airbox - is this a breather hose? And, if so, what should I do with it?

If anyone has any simple tips or instructions they would be gratefully received.

Cheers.

It is a breather hose.

Which kit are you fitting? My Simota came with a little filter to put over the end of it...

Its the crank breather - you can get a mini K+N just for that purpose.

Mine doesn't have a mini-filter; does it need one? Will bad things happen if I leave it open?

Cheers. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to get one? Without the rest of the induction kit that is!

Would one of these do the trick? And if so, which one?

I ran mine for 10k miles without one. No problems.

It will be a long term thing. You could probably run a car with no air filters for 10k miles.
Saying that, it is only a breather rather than the main source oil air.

As a temporary measure you could cut a section out of a pair of tights and tie that over it.

Anything to stop crap falling in.
You can get a small filter from Halfords.
