Very positive final write up in the latest issue (126) of Evo. Interesting comparison to an E9 (?) 3.0 CSL too.
Still, good to see more recognition for how good the latest M3 actually is, instead of the usual uninformed drivel you read about this car.
Stands back and waits for bombardment with replies on depreciation, dilution of M car values, etc, etc.

I think much of the criticism of the M3 was misplaced, either because of short test drives or uniformed prejudice. The more experience owners have of these cars the more positive the posts are. It is interesting that Evo reports 234 registered saloons, since the saloon was my choice and probably explains why I never see another one on the road!

At the moment they're amazing value for money too. I think they look great but could do with being a bit beefier. Just need my car to stop haemorraging money now, so I can afford to upgrade!

But then the question is - 1 yr old M3 Vs 3 yr old 997 C2S........?!

Cheers

I had the 997 Vs E92 M3 debate, but I looked at a car less than 12months old with 2 years warranty and fantastic engine, handling and practicality and thought a car that's older with more warranty costs and worries...the M3 won my vote and my money, I agree there's a little bit missing from ultimate muscle from some angles.

Still 24hrs into ownership (and it's just pouring with rain non-stop) I must say the engine is truly amazing, with comfort mode switched on (EDC) the car is genuinely supple on london roads for the power it handles.

I'm easing myself in, but whilst I can see there's not as much cache' as there would be with a 997 when you sit in it, I still think it's a fantastic machine, with a versatile personality an instant grin factor only a right toe flex away..
