Starting to get into track days a little more and only have 19" CSL Rims at the mo but need to get another set for tracks/tyres to put some semi-slicks etc.

Some say that the cars handle better with the 18's is this true or is it just cheaper on track tyres?

I've got some 18" CSL reps which are 8x18 with 225.40.18 tyres, ET 15 37 (not sure what the '15' means) and I'm going to do one of the drift days at Oulton so was thinking of sticking them on, but will they fit or stick out/in too much?

Hi Dan,

I've got 18's on my M3 and whilst they're arguably not as good looking as the 19's or the CSL wheels, the car handles beautifully on them. My previous M3 had 19's and was certainly less composed.

You can pick up a decent set of 18's for about £400 from ebay. Then fit some sticky rubber and you're away.

Hey Dan

Sure I've got a couple of sets of original E46 18's here. PM me if interested and I'll dig them out!

I've got both but use the 19's for everyday use.

Realitively new to the M3 so not been on any trackdays with it as of yet, but when I do get it out on track the plan is to drive down on the 19's and then stick on the 18's(Slicks) for the track, then drive back up on the 19's! biggrin

Let me know where and when you're on track mate. Fancy myself a spare set of 19's.... wink

Cheers guys

I ended up getting a cheap set of 19's which are getting matt blacked for £350, still have a set of toyo 888's and cups so went with what the tyres fit, but this post has definately given me food for thought for future reference!

"Windy" we will be at Donington on unsilenced day 25th nov, pop up should be a giggle especially on loud days, TVR cerbera - Z3M coupe and - MR2 all going in convoy!

Anyone else about?

Bring on the craner curves!!
