help please; sat nav but no stereo

Hi all, wondered if anyone could help before I take car to a main dealers.
E46 2004 M3 convertable with built in dvd sat-nav and stereo/cd system. got in the car yesterday and the map comes up on the screen, but no sound, also cannot switch stereo on, keep pushing the button but nothing.
Could it be a fuse or is that to easy? PS have an i-pod dennison ice link fitted.

I had those symptoms a couple of times from a failed fuse, so yes it could well be that easy. Fuses in roof of glovebox, and there is a spare for each ampage. Sorry, I cannot remember the number of the relevant fuse, I remember that it seemed a bit ambiguous from reading the list. Look at 34??? but I may be remembering that quite wrongly.

Sorted.... checked fuses, they had not blown, but when replaced must have re-booted stereo etc ...anyway everything ok now, thanks.

This exact thing happened to me a while back. I happened a few times and would always eventually start working. I decided to take it into BMW for a check and they said that although it's relatively easy just to reset it's a symptom of another problem (I forget what exactly) that would just get worse and worse before being completely buggered. They ended up replacing the whole unit - fortunatley under warranty.
