E46 M3 Convertible back seats

I've only seen inside a few and they have just 2 seats in the back with a centre console in-between. Is this the case with all of them or was it an option to remove the "bench" type of seat?

no centre console just two leather buckets in mine. Dont think you would want more than 2 in the back anyway its now wide enough.

Always like this. It's just not physically wide enough due to the roof.

Just thinking of my next purchase, although a way off.
I have 3 young children, so the convertible sounds like a no go.
I presume it's a different matter for the Coupe and saloon (do they come in saloon form??).

Convertibles are all two seats in the rear. Coupe had the option of a third seatbelt from (I think) around 2003.
