Help, im loosing the will on this thanks to BMW and the local dealer network!

Sorry in advance for the ramblings, but it is a story!!!!!............

Ive got a lovely Sept 2005 E46 with only 30k miles on it, Been BMW dealer network looked after all its life, ive had it for the past 18 months since 16k miles and has all BMW services, recently added extended warranty, good move given recent events!

I had inspection 1 service done in June this year from Broakoak in Ashord, who i got the car from, then about 6 weeks after i noticed a different noise from the norm, at about 2k revs, before the normal vanos noise etc came in, sounded to me initially like something loose/rattling
or something. Booked it in to local dealer (cooper maidstone) and they found the engine plastic cover not fully tightened and also the steering pump leaking, not great considering i had recently hasd inspection 1 at Broadoak.

The car went to Broakoak to fix these and also they replaced vanos solenoid and a rear exhaust mounting, this was all around late july.

Car was ok for a while although the noise was still detectable on occasion but not as bad. Then ab 4 weeks ago emissions light came on. Took it to local dealer again as easier, problem was 'vano needed adapting'. Solution was apparently to drive it fairly hard and then would hopefully be ok. A week or so later, the light came on again, back into local dealer (cooper) who, after checking with BMW Germany who logged into car or something say it could well be a problem with work done at inspection 1 !!! shims or something? Light was put out by them again.

Anyway, cars now been booked with Broakoak to give them the chance to relook at what was done, not till the 28th Oct as 1st time have a car! Light came back on yest also!!!!!

Am i being fed a line here? anybody got any experience of this as ive gone from loving the car to looking at moving away from BMW, which is a real shame as its a great car!!!
