My dad has an E46 M3 with 19inch wheels and finds the ride too harsh, he's considering getting a set of 18inch M3 wheels to run it on if they will give a slightly softer ride.

My E39 530 sport has 18inch M parallels, does anyone know if the rim and tyre dimensions on these are the same as the 18inch M3 wheels? We'd like to try them on the M3 just to see how the ride comfort is changed - if any.

Thanks

Jez

You need to also consider offset and the centre diameter of the spigot mounting hole.
The offsets are stamped on the inside of the wheels, begins ET...
The wheels should fit the spigot perfectly and not rely on centering using the wheel bolts, which may also need to be changed.
The wheels also need to clear the brakes and hoses etc
A lot to think about unless you just want to "chav-it-up"

e46 19's are et 47 front and et27 rear
e39 paralell spokes et20 front and et24 rear... so dont bother just swap them plus a bit of cash your way for a set of standard m3 18's
But its up to you

Jez,

Depending on the condition of the 19's and how much life is left in the tyres etc, I have an unmarked set of 18's with good Michelin Pilot sports that could be swapped if a p/x price can be agreed upon.

Your Dad is welcome to try them on his car, or try mine to see if the difference is marked enough to make the change.

Cheers
Matt

E39 has a 74.1mm hub, E46 has a 72.6mm hub, so you can't swap.
