Hi

I'm looking to buy a e34 m5.

I have around 5k and ideally would like one with under 100k on the clock.

Is there any good bmw forums with good classified sections?

this would have been perfect:http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/650482.htm

Craig.

Funnily enough that was my M5 you linked too (advert is down though as it's sold).

I bought that M5 off of here from a dealer about 2 years ago and sold it on here too.
You could also try http://www.m5board.com and have a look in the forum (I also advertised mine in there). There is a lot of knowledge on the M5board and the people on there saved me a packet with some good contacts and advice.

The chap that bought mine had looked at quite a few, rust seems to be the main problem creeping in now with the E34's. The engines and gearbox tend to be very reliable (S38 engines are usually good for 200k miles) but obviously do the usual checks. What you need to watch out for is the suspension especially the EDC equipped 3.8's. I replaced mine with new front units when I bought it as they were clearly shot (thus getting a good price from the dealer I bought it from). The EDC struts last on average only 60k miles, once 100k miles is reached they probably aren't long for this world and definitely past their best. The price of the EDC struts has now gone up (around £1800-£2000 I think for the pair) but the good news is they can now be rebuilt, details are on the M5board forum.

Do a lot of research on the M5board and you shouldn't buy a pup, obviously a bad one will cost a packet to sort correctly.
£5k should get you a decent early 3.8 but good ones are getting hard to find.
