Is it Cat D or C.

If is D it might be worth a look so long as its up for the right money I would guess at atleast £1k less than an average car.

With M3's no being worth much now they will get writen off very easily, Mine is cat D and fine but another non recorded one i looked at had had a much larger front impact but this may have happened when it was worth reparing.

for example an Evo could be written off due to a £2.5-3K bill, in 2001 it may have had a £15k repare and never recorded.

Without seeing the car and knowing the price it'd be hard to give any practical opinion about buying it.

A few things to think about though - you could probably get an unrecorded N or P plate for a similar price and a recorded car will always be worth less when you come to sell so you aren't really saving any money, just spending less if you see what I mean. There are so many about it would have to be REALLY cheap to be worth considering.

Whatever you do get it inspected before you buy it.

If you ever want to sell the car again, avoid something that's been accident damaged unless it's so cheap you can afford to throw it away.

That sort of money sounds about right for that age / mileage M3 but that history would put me off if I'm honest.

There are loads for sale at the moment and with the market the way it is, I bet you could pick up an HPI clear one for not much more than that.. it's certainly the right time of year to be buying a drop top as well smile

TBH I'd stay clear as I'd be concerned there may be other things wrong with it and as mentioned the difficulty in selling it on.
