auto dimming interior mirror

can you switch this off? or indeed on?

I've just noticed mine doesn't auto dim! my old one did coz i found it really anoying that when it dimed with the privacy glass you couldn't see a thing! My new one hasn't got privacy glass so the dimming might be better....

Don't think it is switchable on BM's (I only once had a car on which it was switchable, that was a Jag).

My e34 has a switchable unit - although I'm guessing the new version will be completely different.

On mine you simple set the sensitivity slider completely to the left to switch off, or completely to the right to be permanently on. Keep it between the two and it will take increasing amounts of light to dim.
