E46 M3 SMG - software upgrade?

I have a late 2005 E46 M3 with smg fitted, does anyone know how you can
check whether the SMG software update on the car is the latest? Mines been
service etc my BMW dealers or its whole life so not sure if any update
would have been done?

When your car is serviced my a main dealer, they will do all necessary updates.

I am not sure that is correct - my car has also always been main dealer serviced and the software was never updated.

I have however had it updated after advice from the service manager to tell him the sat nav kept freezing (wink) and they upgraded it under warranty.
