I've got an E46 M3 that I no longer wish to own due to lack of use.

I have browsed many an advert looking for a figure but prices seem very varied and I'm only looking for a rough figure and I want to sell it as it is.

The car is 53 plate. SMG. Silver Grey/Imola leather, 54k miles, FSH, Sat Nav, Cruise control, etc. No heated seats and no rear blind. CD changer. Tax/Mot/AUC warranty till end of Feb 2009. Also a factory fitted ACS exhaust.

It has some stone chips on the front end, nothing major. It has 3500 miles to go till an oil service and it will need new tyres in the near future. The 2 passenger side wheels have some kerbing.

I've owned it 18 months and paid a fair whack for it and am realistic that I will not see a great deal of that back.

So what would you pay for it?

A Silver 53 Plate with lower spec, 49K went on ebay 3 weeks ago for £12,500, but seen 100K cars selling for 13K plus. go figure.

I know a chap trying to sell a very similar car to yours - it has higher miles (just under 80k) and has a few extra bits of spec (folding mirrors etc) - he's had it advertised for £13k for ages and apparently not had a sniff.

80k vs 54k is different though and even more so for a buyer!

Although I suspect 80k will put off 75% of buyers straight out.

I have folding mirrors to, I thought every M3 had them.

I've put it up for 18.5k. Not expecting to sell at that price but I'm very open to negotiation...

Aye, maybe. It wouldnt bother me for £12-13k, its a bargain, but I'm well aware that lots of M3 buyers dont like miles.

Best of luck with the sale bud, fingers crossed for you.

Dont sell yaself short mate, I have just had my mint 2001 e39 M5 with full bmw history and just 68000 underwritten at 8k told the trader to b*****ks as the price of the car I was interested had not had its screen price "dropped by a grand every month sir" as the jumped up t**t tried to tell me mine had.
Just hang on for the right genuine buyer to come along.
Good luck

Car prices are on their arses. Simple as that.

2003 smg with nav at 60k miles will get £15k if you want to sell it and not just have it sat there.

There are some 40k mile versions in the classifieds for around the £15500-16000 mark, yours having warranty will wipe out the extra mileage maybe??

Just to make you feel better I'm picking up an immaculate Silver Grey with Imola for £19995 from a Dealer tomorrow. They would only budge on the trade in of my Z3 and gave me 3 years of free servicing. 22500 miles. no sat nav. 2003 53 1 owner

Can't wait even though I know it will loose £3000 overnight

Clearly a love job, we have all been there when your hearts desire overrules your head and why not.

Hope you enjoy your car.

Going rate at a BMW dealer for a car similar to yours seems to be around
£20-21,000 assuming it's got 19" wheels. That price will include the service and new tyres, and probably the stone chips and alloys cleaned up.

For a private sale I don't think £16,000 would be unreasonable, especially since it has AUC warranty well into next year, which is pretty hard to come by now.

£12k max in the trade. £14k if you're really lucky privately. NO heated seats let it down slightly.
