I need to replace my front disc's and pads and have been looking at different options and would like to have some opinions on what you think of them?

1. OEM's cheapest price on disc's is £250 inc. v.a.t and £50 pads what i have on there now!

Alternatives

2. zimmerman disc's & textile pads £317 incl. v.a.t disc's & £47 inc. v.a.t pads approx. £360 all in

3. performance friction disc's & pads £243 + v.a.t / each disc's & £54 + v.a.t pads approx. £650 all in!

Found a write up on the friction setup http://www.b1a.co.uk/andy/PF.html with some interesting results

Tested against oem's brakeing from 100mph

The oem's appear to fade but the PF seem to be better and with no fade! I don't know how reliable the sorce of this test is!

they look a well engineered floating disc

I want to keep cost down if i can and get the best for my money!

If anyone has any experience with any of these options or have any other suggestions it would be appreciated, many thanks in advance!

edit got the price of the PF disc's and pads wrong sorry!

Good thread Jeff, I never realized that PF were that reasonable for price, I was advised to go to CSL front disc's being 20mm larger dia and go for upgraded pads like Pagids RS421 front and rear at £316.00 pads only don't have cost for disc's

Yes i agree they are a good price for a well engineered disc and after the first time you only need to replace the rotors so possibly in the long run as cheap if not cheaper than oem's,
I'm also considering the csl route from what i can tell They are 345mm compared to 325mm that i've got now but the pads have the same part no. so no difference in stopping power but may stay cooler for longer i think?? and only approx. £30 more each decisions! decisions! I will be changing my brake fluid the same time, i use SRF bit more expensive but doesn't boil as quick! makes allot of difference imo.

here is a link for the performance friction disc's E46 front pair incl. V.A.T £572.23 and £63 for pads http://www.part-box.com/index.php?cPath=968_1058_1...
