Hi all

Has anyone used any upgrated pads in the E46 M3, looking at some Mintex, as they seem a good priced upgrade @ £60, compaired to £85+Vat for BMW std.

I've been told on the E36 curcuit that pagid pads are very good, but dont know anyone that has used them on a E46, and if uprated pads in general make a really difference.

cheers

John

Which Mintex pads are they - 1166s? MY brother-in-law will soon be looking at upgraded pads for his E46, and I would have been inclined to steer him down the Mintex route (having fitted them to the STi - apples and oranges I know). But I'm not really in a position to comment on their suitability for an M3 so I'm looking forward to seeing any suggestions put forward here.

I have used DS2500's all round on my E46 M3 for standard brakes and
on Ap racing calipers and thought they have been excellent!!!

ds2500 are gash on an M3, they just melt. Pagid RS29 or RS15.

The problem with the Ferrodos, yes they are brilliant when warm, but absolutely SHYTE when cold. Squealy and inspire no confidence when cold.
IMO of course.

Phew. Though I'll still wager they'll get a good old hammering in my 'fast road' style... so hope they don't totally disintegrate!

I'd hate to have to replace them and further contribute to the cash black hole that is my M3 (check out my last post on the running costs...)

after deliberating went for a standard set of front pads, as the discs will need replacing next pad swap, so ill look at a possible combo at that time, seemed a waste throwing some Pagid pads on no perfect discs.

The standard ones seem fine for general use.
