Hello,

In switching from the metric rim to imperial the obvious choice is the 17" Alpina wheel. What is the best width for the E24? Walloth & Nesch offer the 8.5" width but the 8" width are easier to get hold of and cheaper. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The original metric wheels on the M635CSi are 7.7" wide and 16.3" in diamater and run on 240/45 VR 415 tyres.

So to upgrade I would suggest using 8"x17" Alpinas running on 245/40 VR 17 tyres.

I've also been considering the E31 17" BBS split rims alloys. I've been told that to use the 9" rears (front wheels are 8") i may need to roll the arches. What does that mean? Would i just have to get the inner edge of the arch adjusted or is something more involved?

This is just IMHO but the split rims suits the 6 series better than Alpina wheels. As for rolling the arches with 9", it is very simple to do by a good bodyshop.

Thanks Rassi. I agree with you - the split rims do look better.
