Going to france soon in the Z4MC

But I have a dilemma.....

To switch over the lights I have to go to my dealer (god knows what they will charge me) but on my return I will be driving at night in Blighty.

So which is the best option? risk it in France or here? Or is there another? stickers? or is it actually easy job that I could do? (manual doesn't help)

in the wheel arch (full lock) you will see an access panel - turn 2 large plastic screws 180' and remove plastic panel - this gives you access to the rear of light unit.
Remove small panel to get to bulb-them press white tab(gently)down till it clicks.

It can be awkward.

Warning - Do this with the xenon lights off...if the bulb powers down and back on it will use you as the earth.....25,000 v kick

No...you have a possible 2 versions...an access panel on top of the light unit, easy to get too, just open bonnet and pop panel....press white tab.

The other version is the same as z4 but no panel in wheel arch...you have to try and remove bulb cover then fish around for tab

For the e46 M3 do a search for this thread subject: "switching xenons to lhd". Mine is a 2006 cab and I took it to Spain for three weeks in the Summer. Like a good Euro citizen I asked at the dealer about switching the lights and how I could do it, the answer was "with great difficulty". I actually talked to one of the technicians and you have to pull off the back of the housings which is awkward to say the least and even more so on the offside where the reservoir sits. Then you have to grope around for a lever/switch and figure which way to move it. I thought hard about how much night driving I was likely to be doing and gave up at that point.
It may be easier on the Z4 or even the earlier e46 but for mine definitely not worth the hassle.

Wish they did them all like the E39......small window at top, open it up and flip switch....10 seconds.

That type made total sense
