Before I head down the route of changing all of the bushes and shocks at the front end of the car, I was hoping someone might shed some light on the following. The suspension when everything is cold is silent and has no obvious clunks, squeeks or rattles. Once the engine and engine bay area is hot, the suspension squeeks and groans under braking, on slow cornering and on slow uneven surfaces. When stationary and cold the suspension is silent - when hot it squeeks. I thought it may have been the drop links as I have had this before with other BMs but new ones haven't cured it. This is driving me nuts and has to get sorted. Thanks guys

First lot of bushes that usually wear out on these cars are the "control arm" bushes that come into play under braking. Suggest getting them checked first.

Not related but if you are new to E39 M5 ownership, keep an eye on the rear anti roll bar brackets, they are a known weakspot.

Details of costs of fixing the above stuff can be seen on my cars running costs blog. Click on the car in my profile.
