The console surround is not in good shape - cracks, and missing pieces. So I'm looking into a replacement. Anybody done this? I've had a good search on the net and only find stick on stuff on Ebay which looks nasty and carbon replacements for the Coupe only - no good for the saloon as I have more switches for the rear windows.

A new walnut surround will set me back £450 eek I was thinking of replacing it with a black one from a normal E36 saloon, but my local BMW dealer was useless and said it wouldn't fit??

Can anybody help?

Your best bet for stuff like this is to sign up for www.bmwowner.com (formerly e36coupe.com) as the for sale section is extensive and parts like that come up all the time. You'd be able to replace all your wood trim is you wanted eventually if you keep your eyes open. This website is popular and all new applications are verified personally by the mods so it might take a few days for your account to be actioned but it'll be worth it. Everything you need for your car is contained within!

Sorry, you're a couple of weeks too late for mine. I stripped it from my track car and it went in the binirked. Would have been yours. Good luck with the search.

I was quoted 300pound from john clark(aberdeen BMW) for the walnut centre surround for my Evo. Then i tried BM Blitz(parts) and they spoke to me as though i was an idiot. Possibly going to go for a black one and hope theres not too much of a difference.

Couldnt find nothing on the E36 or BMW owners forums either

My centre console is in the same condtition as yours though cracked and chipped. Let me know how you get on if you find anywhere that stocks them cheaper or a reasonable alternative

I bought a 2nd hand black centre console from a convertable which had the rear window buttons on Ebay for £1 plus postage and it fitted fine. The dealer wanted £400 for the walnut version and £100 for the black one. It looked ok as well because the rest of the dash is black anyway.
