And is it a decent alternative? they look like good value even with the must have warranty...

Thanks

I have although I had a C4S and 996 Turbo in between. I personally love the M5, my advice would be to get a long test drive with a salesman who knows what they're talking about. It really does take a while to understand all the settings and how to use the gearbox smoothly(although having a CSL will obviously help!). Once you do this it all comes together.

Brutally fast when you want to be a hoon, smooth and comfortable when you don't, subtle but aggressive styling and sounds fantastic.

Fuel consumption is an issue as is depreciation!

I'm amazed he hasn't posted yet. Maybe his "M5 comment posted on PH" bleeper isn't working.

I was out for lunch!

I did it. I still miss the CSL, but the M5 is great compensation and has sufficient qualities of its own to satisfy.

M5 is much easier for newborns though.

Can you still get the M5 a bit out of shape on twisty country roads, rounabouts and the like?

To be frank buying an M5 for £30k makes a hell of a lot of sense your getting a fully loaded super car for what 330d SE money. Im pretty sure that it will depreciate at a similar rate to a brand new 330d SE however your getting a much bigger car and really a Keeper.

I envy you to be in the position to afford to buy one & clearly fully signed up to all the running costs.

I did think about a 335d (mapped) but I am not sure I could cope with the torque...
