small to wide screen sat nav question

Hi guys and gals

On my M3 do any of you know if a widescreen satnav/tv head unit will just replace my small screen satnav/tv head unit?

Or will the two mot match up, looking at the connections on the back and part numbers of the sat nav units and tv tuner it should just plug in but has anyone tried it??

Any help would be greatful
