Retail at OPC is probably £38k.

They're pulling your pants down.

I got offered £10k for a 2000 911 Carrera with FPSH and Porsche warranty by Hexagon last month. Told them to poke it.

That sounds like a fair bid, there are a couple of 2005/6 cars be offered for under £35k and I know people who have done deals at just over £30k, well £32k.
Trade really doesn't want them at the moment, although you may get £28-30k against a BMW diesel.

An M5 to an Audi diesel?? What's happened, do you hate driving all of a sudden?wink

For that kind of hit, you'd be better off buying a £5K passat as a runabout and keeping the m5, if its about fuel / running costs.

Trust me btw, you will come to hate the audi diesel very quickly, they are soulless things.

Advertise it at £30k, if it is the right colour combo it will sell privately and qucikly, a few people are getting tempted now they are at the £30k mark.

A REALLY ragged example is worth around £30k tops. £26,000 is a piss take and they're trying their luck. I'd say its worth around £34,000 but to be honest people are frightened of making such purchases at the moment. Come Christmas time I think early M5's will be nudging mid-20's.

This (and the fact that I love the car) are the reasons that I'm holding onto my 2.5 year old car (bought new - ouch), even though I'm seriously considering buying something else.

I would expect some of them at low prices to be bought by people who will not appreciate the running costs and just be blinkered by the performance. Let the warranty lapse and a few non-essential go unaddressed and before you know it there will be a lot of M5's out there that will require significant maintenance catch up and lower prices even more.
Then you are into the realms of the E39 M5 buying game.

If you are about to loose £14-18k on it, surely it would be better to keep it?? I bet it would still be fetching £20k in another 3 years.

Audi diesel?? Don't do it!!

Totally agree , you could add another 20000 miles on that vehicle and it would still be worth £20000 in a years time. Keep it and buy a 2nd hand car to do the mileage .

Agreed, the depreciation will just level out until it reaches a flat-rate and will hold there for at least 18 months. I remember looking at E39 M5's in 2003 and they were at £20,000 for 2000 models, in 2005 I saw similar cats going at the same price.

They have found their true value at £30-35k, getting out now would be madness.

After seeing and losing to an e60 m5 @ Woodbridge Airfield / Fighting Torque, these cars are truly amazing value.

Bear in mind, I got thrashed on the 1/4mile and I was in an M3 CSL!

I treid to sell my M3 recently but worked out that with the offers I was getting and the cash I'd spent on it recently (big service), I was as well to keep it. With M5's dropping like they are, I too would be soarly tempted by one at c£30k.

My Bro run's a 55 plate one and loves it to bits.
