Hi all,

just a quick question about peoples views/experiences with different exhaust set ups.

I have just fitted supersprint de-cat pipes, the ones with the silencers though - unfortunatly,as i didnt look around enough for the straight through ones (now i have seen them and they are cheaper).

I now want to fit a new back box but am woundering what to go for. I am thinking supersprint race (does anyone know the difference with race and normal twin?), but i cant get one of these until the end of august, so are there any others worth getting for under £500?

I have seen a blue flame one... any views?

I would preferably like it quite loud (racey sounding not boy racer)shout . i like the popping and banging shoot on the overun with some cars so if any ones cars sound quite good, please state your system.

Thanks

Dave

I've got a scorpion on my E36, sounds good on the go, nice and poppy on over run, it's a bit boomy at low speed / low revs

I have heard, ACS, scorpion, supersprint, Eisenmann, tubi etc and Supersprint is by far the best compromise. Not boomy/annoying but sings at higher revs, quiet lower down.

i have Scorpion on mine. It is a bit boomy at low revs and on the motorway but sounds awesome under power. If you Google Video "White Rabbit Racing Bruntingthorpe" there are is a vid and about 10 mins in there are some higher speed outside shots when you can hear it in full roar (it's inducted as well).

Had a Blue Flame on my old 328 and it was a very nice piece of kit. Similar in sound to the supersprint - not boomy at all and very well made. A good deal cheaper than the SS as well.

Sounds great.
I'm new to BMWs and know nothing of perfomance exhausts.
So what's envolved in this system? Is it a complete system? Does it bypass the Cats?

Holy Jesus man what the hell was that?

Did you actually stop by the side of the road, top down, Oakleys adorned (on an overcast day) and rev your car for the camera? Please tell me I dreamt it all. Please.

Could you get a bigger cliche? yuck

I'm ashamed to be a petrol head right now.

WTF..!!!! You tit I got a new exhaust and needed to finish off an old set of tyres, took a quick spin out with the wife to a quiet industrial estate to see what the exhaust sounded like and kill the tyres before the new one's arrived.

I'm not sure what world you live in where people randomly stop for people with cameras, get some footage off them and post it, but it's not my kind of party

And yet you've compounded my theory whilst simultaneously completely missing the point.

It's just a rear box with an induction kit at the front end, I'm looking at a place called Stealth Systems for 100 or 200 cell cats, they have some experience with BMW exhausts. Get yourself along to one of the south coast hoons, friendly people, nice cars, theres one on 24th August.

Excellent stuff Tyrone.

I really miss the noise of my old Cerbera which was decatted with a sports exhaust. So I want some noise from the M3. In standard form, it sounds like a sewing machine! However I don't want to mess about with a decat otherwise it creates hassle at MOT times, so your system sounds just the ticket. So I know you have a Scorpion back box, what induction do you have out of interest?

I have a very young family so I don't get to go out on hoons too often. Boo Hoo!

I've got a K&N 57i, I dont think it gives any performance gain but the noise is good. You can get more noise and potential power gains but your going to pay for them. I've also go young kids, thats why we do the hoons early on Sunday mornings

Thanks.
I have 3 under 5!
I'm sure I can get out to at least 1 hoon.
So when do you do them?
