I put in 60 litres in Oxford on Sunday evening at a cost of £76 and reset the mpg reading on the computer. I actually managed to keep it at 24 mpg for a while on the M40. Finished the trip back to North London having averaged 18.7 mpg, despite bad traffic. Not bad at all.
Then I reset it yesterday morning for my 7 mile commute to the City and got 7.4 mpg.

I just did a 2400 mile round trip to Spain and my average for the whole trip was 28 mpg (E46 Cab). Petrol in France was expensive compared to UK because of the Euro exchange rate but much cheaper in Spain, because of lower taxes I guess. Hard to believe that at this level of average mpg its now cheaper to run the M3 than my wife's 3.0D X3 !!

That really is bad! Even my 911 Turbo doesn't go that low. Doesn't stop me wanting an M-Car, of course...Then I reset it yesterday morning for my 7 mile commute to the City and got 7.4 mpg.

Wrt, I don't think the blown 911 is a good example of pump profligacy: the 'live' mpg thing on mine shows a low 20s figure on a 120ish cruise which is mildly outrageous; very light throttle but hugely economical, are them thar jellymoulds.petermansell said:
