morning all, was wandering if you guys had any tips for looking after cars not in use during winter months. I'm planning to keep it garaged so will not be driving it at all for approx 6/12....is there anything in particular i should be checking/doing over that period?

Yeah - driving it all winter!!!

Seriously try http://www.z4-forum.com/ as a few overseas owners on there put theirs away for the winter (mostly in Canada I think).

Over inflate your tyres, keep the battery charged, keep the car dry (carcoon), empty fluids or start and run the car every three weeks or so to keep the hoses etc flexible. There are always days in the winter that you can drive the car even if just up and down the road ten times.

Where will the car be stored and will you be protecting the door rubbers, having some anti damp crystals within the car and leaving the windows open a little too?

It may also be worth waxing the car before storage and treating the leather etc!

The door, boot and bonnet rubbers plus any hoses etc should be coated in something like Einszett Rubber care.

Here is a link

http://www.einszett.co.uk/products_einszett_interi...

The car should be fully detailed before storage, waxed and dried, dress the tyres and interior too.

leave the windows open a tad to stop any damp issues and I am a believer in a good interior car cover to stop dust / insects / mice etc ruining your pride and joy!
