M-Roadster for £8,500 - viable/sensible option ????

Advice needed - I've already posted under Porsche as am considering 944 Cab or M-Roadster for an <£8-£8,500 purchase. General concensus is that the M-Roadster is the better proposition in terms of ownership/enjoyment etc but there are concerns over whether £8,500 is viable ??

I've seen tidy looking 1998 examples for private sale - mainly 70k-80k on the clock with FSH etc - some with new Vanos - what are the other risks/things to look out for ?

THe M car will knock spots off the Porsche. You can't possibly compare them.

Vanos - overpublicised - do a search for how to spot a bad one.

Price IS viable. They are taking owners quite a long time to sell at the moment (just watch the classifieds for a bit) so deals are there to be had

Cheers Guy - fair point about the two cars - I've always been a fan of the 944 so it's a bit of a head vs heart battle ! Will look into the Vanos issue, there's a lot of scare-mongering about from what I can see that distorts things !
