M3 CSL Brakes on an E30 M3 ?
Discussion
Pretty much anything can be made to fit anything. However, the issues you are going to face are wheel clearance for the calipers, relation of the disk to the track rod ends, the hub fitting for the disks and finally the caliper location onto the strut legs. Add to this the weight of the calipers and disks (I bet they are cast iron calipers), your unsprung weight at each corner will increase which will provide really rubbish ride quality. I dont want to put you off but there is nothing like starting a project with your eys open. When it's all said and done the cheapest way to do this is to go and buy some AP's. Yes a kit will cost 1k+, however get into a car with AP's and you will realise why, the brakes on mine have just been re-bled after replacing a couple of seals, holy cow, the brakes are now brutal. Couple that to the weight saving per corner, the car now rides loads better even with Leda's on it.
how about a 993 porsche caliper upgrade? they use a smaller brembo 4 pot caliper, which would up your breaking power without some of the negatives mentioned above. again you will need to make them fit, but i think a few of the z3m owners have done this, theres even a german company that makes caliper "mounts" that let you fit the above calipers to a variety of cars.
i would have thought one is limited to the size of caliper/disk you can fit to the e30 due to the original wheel size? surely the csl calipers are too big to fit?
anyway, hope that helps, i will try and find that link for the german company...mtm or something.......
incidently i would be deffo be interested in buying the disks off you if you decide not to go down that ^ route. :-).
cheers
