I've had the oil light on my E36 M3 flash wheni started the car this moring, is this due to level or pressure?

I've checked the level and it's fine is it common for the sensor to fail?

Top it up if required otherwise it could be an oil pressure switch. I believe its the same as other E36 models', should cost around £15 max.

I've has this on mine since I bought it.. I think it is oil sender unit but I believe it's nearer 140 quid from BMW!

Seems like most people just check thier oil level manually and ignore the flashing smile

Just had the same switch replaced on a '96 Evo due to flashing, cost £92.00 + vat from Sytner

yeah it flashes because the sensor is shot, doesnt mean your low on oil just that the level isnt being read.you can get the sensors for about £70 from either gsf or ecp but fitting is about another £100 as they are a pain to do
