Why change just the disks...you will need to change the pads too. What condition are your front disks in and also have you ever had the calipers and seals rebuilt?

For £200 you can get the whole lot rebuilt and transform your braking!

Front discs and pads were changed before I purchased the car last month to pass mot. I was planning on changing rear discs and pads etc at the same time but required some advice on best available for road use only, thanks for your response and I will take on board any advice available. cheers mate. smile

Disks are much of a muchness re road use, but don't waste money on drilled ones...slotted (grooves) are all you will ever need. I would change my pads to EBC Red or Pagid....maybe Ferodo's. For more feel I would consider installing braided hoses plus better fluid...but check the hoses every year for corrosion / leaks.

Your best bet is to replace the worn discs with genuine BMW items. For the money, there is no better option. For added bite, garnish with some Ferrodo DS2500 pads, Dot 5.1 fluid and braided hoses.

Perfect for road use yes

Be careful though. Most of the 'grooved' offerings on the market that I have seen are cheap solid dics, whereas the OE discs are floating - therefore doing a much better job of stopping at high temperatures than the Zimmerman et al equivalents.

exactly what he said ^.

:-) i have this set up on mine (all round) and its more than enough for the rd. having said that i have just landed some big ATE 4 pots for the front of the evo, I believe they are off a 3.8 m5, paired up to some 345 mm discs and some new pads, they should up the front ends braking performance. having said that, i am only doing the upgrade as i got the calipers cheap, and as i need new discs on the front anyway. i believe the 345mm discs are not much more expensive than the evo ones. otherwise i would stick with the above (as mentioned by asbo) set up as its sufficient for 95% of the time.

cheers
