De cats on E36 m3 EVO
Discussion
Hi all,
Just a quick question as i cant really seem to find any info on this when i search, but has any one JUST de-catted there evo, without remaps e.t.c?
I ask this because i want to get the full supersprint system but dont fancy spending out all that £££ all at once, so i was just goin to put the de cats on for now, then buy the rear box.
I take it the lamba sensors are in front of the cats or will these need modifying?
if any one can help i would very much appreciate it.
thanks, dave

I seem to remember that the EVO cannot be de-catted.

I've decatted mine (well, fitted hi cell race cats) without a dedicated re-map and she runs beautifully.
Definate hike in power too.
Do it

Decatting the M3 will give a real rasp to the exhaust note and save you alot of weight.
From experience the Supersprint is by far the best out there but it must be the one with the X-Pipe.
The Supersprint system is by a very long way the BEST out there. I speak from experience with dyno evidence.
What ever you decide steer as clear as possible from the Eisenmann rear box for the M3 - you'll lose power!

What makes you say that you will lose power with an eisenmann rear box on an e36 m3, do you have remap graphs or something showing this on the same day on the same car under same conditions?
Unless you are talking about their quad tip version, which would have a lower back pressure and cost you low down torque similar to a decat.

Evo exhausts from the Supersprint website - they have the 3.0 car also.
I'd assume that these were on standard cars with standard management.

I had a car in which I dynoed before and after. Car came in with standard exhaust. Eisenmann lost it 10bhp.Unless you are talking about their quad tip version, which would have a lower back pressure and cost you low down torque similar to a decat.

This is an isolated example though, not seen it on any other M car.
Will not pass MOT with De-cat fitted but take cats with you and for a small fee they can be swapped in and out without fuss......
Word of warning with de-cat though! The car chucks out some serious fumes and does stain the rear bumper which needs a good scrub every couple of weeks or so to remove the yellowish fumes....I speak from experience.

I may have to bite the bullet and replace the centre section on my 3.o litre (pre evo) M3. I have seen that Supersprint do a "race" version including cats. Can anyone tell me rough how much louder than stock this? I normal get 84/85 dB on my stock system so I have some room to manoevre for track days. this would go on a stock backbox to start with, maybe swap later
I presume decat pipes, especially race ones, can be a bit naughty, as they are just open pipes
thanks

Sorry if I'm coming across as a total berk here (only just registered to post today, been lurking for a while)
is that yes as in: race cats, louder than stock but not >95dB stop you going on quiet trackdays and race decat, VERY LOUD indeed; or yes something else?
I will spend the £1000+ on race cats if I have to, but I would like to know first
Thanks again

some evo's pass the mot with decat pipes but i wouldnt count on it.you can decat an evo as the lamda probes are in the manifolds not the cat sections.m3 ehausts, especially the e46's are known to be pretty efficient(manifolds excluded) so you dont tend to get much from exhaust swaps(catbacks) but you do save alot of weight from a full system with cat pipe, best part of 30kg in weight lost!!!
