Hi there. Yeah, I've got disks that need replacing, rusty callipers and I'm wondering whether a trip to ATS is a missed opportunity to get some really good working, and looking brakes? I've looked on the Brembo site and they seems to cost £1000's.

Anyone upgraded their Z3 M Coupe Brakes and can give me some options?

Cheers.

Why not just get the calipers properly sorted, then powdercoated, have the disks nickel plated to stop rusting and have some decent pads installed.

All in for around £650 whereas a bbk will cost you thousands and will actually offer you little improvement unless you thrash you car around a track every weekend.

People forget tyres help you to stop as much as decent pads and disks...is the geometry of your car 100% and have you renewed the brake fluid and lines within the last 12,000 miles??

Excellent thanks for the advice.

Well I've just bought the thing in the last few months and I'm getting a wobble on the steering wheel under braking. The MOT recently advised that the disks would need looking at soon. The calipers look dreadful (a mate of mine has a new Porsche 997 so you know where I'm coming from. Awesome yellow calipers....) so the plan is part cosmetic and part mechanical. I don't do track days so regular braking is the norm. I have a good garage nearby (Newbury based) which may have better advice than a BMW dealership.

Ring up Phoenix Motorsport who are based in Camberley Surrey. Gerry the boss is a major BMW specialist and they are doing top work on disks, powdercoating calipers, pads, hoses and piston rebuilds. Well worth a chat and they can also rework your suspension geometry to give your car the best possible steering feedack and handling.

Details are on the web.

I posted a Porsche caliper conversion i did on mine here;

Whole conversion using CSL discs, Porsche 996 calipers, Pagid pads etc cost me less the £900.

Brilliant thanks for the advice folks. Love the Porsche upgrade but it look swell beyond me. Gonna try that chap at Phoenix Motorsport and see how I get on. I'll post shots if I go ahead. Ace.

I have Tarox 6's with braided lines. Very good performance, just done a track day in hot weather on a fast but technical circuit thats very demanding on breaks and tyres. Absolutely great performance.
