Limited appeal, a wonderful car but not for the masses. Maybe the X6 will take over its place on any production line!!

I'd imagine they're stopping production of the S54 engine.

Hopefully there won't be a V8 Z4M ..

not till I sell mine anyway hehe

Nah, it's only the Z4M and Z4MC that are stopping...as said, I've heard it's because the S54 3.2 motor won't pass emissions laws going forwards and they don't want to re-engineer it so that it does. Good news indeed...mine is on a PCP...so if the prices all crash I just give it back in a years time...but if they don't depreciate too far, then I can buy it from BMW for £18K and sell at a profit smile

Yes but the Spartanburg plant is flat out doing the X5 and X6 and the Z4 replacement is to be built in Germany. I think the Z4's days are numbered.

With a foldy hardtop I guess they won't be doing a coupe. Although they do make the E92 3-series as both a coupe and a foldy hardtop, but I guess that's more of a volume seller.

Interesting that the replacement Z4 is to be built in Germany. Is this to get over the quality issues that were aparent in the Z3 and Z4...? What are the other US built BMW's like...? I must say that although the Z4 was fun to drive, it was apallingly badly screwed together. Furthermore, it was clearly cost-engineered a bit close to the wind, especially regards trim quality. I can't say I miss it...

Ours was a December 04 model. Issues include both rear springs snapping in half (separate incidents), chassis cross member behind the dashboard coming unbolted and flailing about, a couple of trim pieces dropping off in the cabin, bonnet catch not working, oil level indicator giving false warnings, car running on 4/5 cylinders for 10 minutes if it had been left standing a week. Car was bought new and only did about 25k miles by the time we sold it at the beginning of this year. Maybe it was a lemon...?

One of the good things above the Z4 roadster was a decent amount of boot space, having looked at the boot space of a folding hard top 3 series you barely have enough room for your lunchbox... its going to ruin the cars practicality completely.

Guess I'll have to upgrade to a Z4M roadster of the current shape or maybe a 987 boxster S.
