Guys

Anybody know if there is an adaptor which allows you to use / control your ipod through the standard business head unit?

This was in a BMW mag recently and they said that it can't be done on any E36 models.....

If you have the HK system they do an after market install, with a display and adaptor

Have a look on ebay as I've just picked up a brand new harman Kardon ipod kit for 30 notes delivered. It comes with a separate mono screen and a wheel type thing to control your ipod which can be hidden away out of sight.

I've not had a change to fit it yet but it looks like you can hard wire it to your head unit of use it as an FM transmitter. I'll let you know how i get on if you like?

They do a newer version which is a similar setup but it's all blutooth and you get a full colour screen which looks really smart. Only problem is it's nearly 200 notes!!
