xenon light playing up?can it be the igniter?

I had exactly this problem on my 2003 car. The local dealer was a bit foxed and after two visits they decided it must be the igniter and BMW agreed to bear the parts cost (which was nice, as the car was then a year outside warranty). They also swapped the bulbs around. This only partially worked so I took the car in a month ago and they agreed to replace the igniter again at their expense - and this time I did not have to pay the labour. So far so good.

When it was playing up, I could usually get the light to come on by flicking the headlight switch to off, then to on again a few times. I have no idea if this was bad for the car in any way, but it usually got the lamp lit!

I believe you can buy the various spares direct from some places on the net that list HID kits, as the BMW prices are from another planet.
