I would suggest about the same sort of time as brakes. 500 miles or so will be fine.

Just had a new clutch fitted on my Z4MC after only 13k miles (fortunately under warranty). I was told by the dealer to take it easy until the new clutch 'beds-in', but was a bit vague about for how long this takes.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how long it takes to bed-in a new clutch. I assume by taking it easy they mean no gear changes at high revs etc...thanks
Do you know roughly how much this would have cost ? Thinking of buying one and trying to work out costs/maintenace, etc.

A new clutch at 13k miles, did they say why? Surely this is the same clutch as the M3 and I haven't heard of these going so early, in fact quite the opposite they seem to last anything up to 60k miles in the manual cars.

Just had mine done at 6k miles. Dual mass flywheel was causing a nasty knock on gearchange

My Z4MC was a little clunky on occasion when pulling away, didn't think too much of it. The gear change on both my old M3 and Z4MC were noticably smoother abover 3,000 rpm so just put it down to a feature of the car, much like the notchy nature of the gearbox when it's cold.

I was surprised by this as since I've had the car (about 6 months in which done about 3.5k miles) the low speed gear change has always been a bit clunky - I thought this was normal! He said it's probably something to do with the clutch not self-adjusting (?), and would need gearbox out to look at clutch. They ended up replacing the clutch under warranty.

I was told this would have cost ~£700 from the dealer.
I beleive that the clunk at low speeds is the same on all the Z4M's - it's something to do with the clutch delay valve (which alot of people remove or modify).

Which garage did you take your car? Wouldn't mind taking mine there for a new clutch as well.... LoL
