E39 M5 Audio System
Discussion
There was no HK system for the E39 M5. You are confusing this with the HK system for the E46 M3.
DSP was an enhanced upgrade above and beyond the 'Professional' stereo. It is ok but many owners complain of bugs in the software that cause the sound to cut out for no apparent reason (I have a fix for this if anyone is interested). The top factory audio option was option SA752 (Individual M Audio) which changed some of the speakers. The big subs in the boot were always a pain as they took up valuable space.
It's not really worth retrofitting in my opinion; you're better off spending the money on a decent aftermarket setup.

I've got the Individual M Audio in my 2002 E39 M5 and i'd be interested in the fix you mention and very intermitantly the sound cuts out and also cuts out one side to the other (both ways) or front to back (again both ways).
Any help would be appreciated.
