Hi Guys,

My Z4 M Coupe currently has the 6 disc changer,i have been told that if i want the ipod connection this will have to replace the 6 disc changer as i can't have both.

Has anyone done this...is the Ipod connection better than having the 6 disc cd changer !

Any input would be great, cheers :-)

ipod = much better. Nothing to change, leave the little bugger in glove box for £200 , 1000s of songs. What's not to like?

What you need is a Kenwood KCA-420i and an Intravee (http://www.intravention.co.uk/ avaiable from http://www.toysinyourcar.com for £147.99 )

They are an excellent set up - control your playlists through your sat nav screen, 1000's songs on your iPod versus 6 CD's in the boot - no comparison!!!

I was one of the Intravee beta testers and installed the kit myself in my Z4MR

Bit fiddly, as you have to remove lots of plastic to remove the existing CD changer. But once it's in, it works great. The iPod is navigated entirely from the Satnav screen - you can browse artist, album, playlists, all works properly.

You do have to press a button to wake up the Nano when it's not been used for a while though..

The BMW CD changer (and in-dash one) plays MP3 CDs doesn't it?

It was a simple 15 minute job to install both the KCA-420i and the Intravee in my E46 M3. Don't know how much more difficult it would be in the Z4, but I suspect it will still be relatively easy.

Probably the best modification I have made to the car!

It's leagues apart with the two cars, unfortunately. The M3 is much easier because it's got a dedicated storage shelf, the Z4 is all integrated into the bulkhead.

If you do what I did and remove the factory CD changer in the Z4, then you have to remove the centre storage unit, some speakers and the navigation computer before you can remove the CD changer. If you didn't have factory CD changer it would be a piece of piss though.

Agreed.. I fitted my CD changer in the boot for this very reason.... just need to retrieve the cable through the firewall.. very easy. Dismantling the interior trim will no doubt lead to even more rattles frown
