Yup, clutch bite point on Evo's is always low, the braided clutch line helps a bit but not a great deal.

Having the braided pipe on mine totally sorted it out. A must do on these cars, otherwise changing gear is awful.

Where can you buy the braided clutch hoses? The clutch position is annoying me too. Had a look on ca-automotive but can't see one.... only brakes.

Worth changing the clutch fluid at the same time?

I fitted an bigger clutch delay valve on my Z4 and it made a huge difference.. however, I understand Euro M3's don't have one?????? http://www.zeckhausen.com/CDV.htm

It shares its clutch with the brake fluid so no, leave it until the brake fluid is done as per your service.

Unfortunately, BMW have now stopped manufacturing the braided hose for whatever reason. Not sure if there are any alternatives from CA et al.

My Evo's always had this low pedal for the 4 years and 60k I've done, replaced the master and made minimal dofference...

Be very interested to know if this replacement pipe cures it or just makes a small difference... just being half way through the pedal travel would be nice.

I'm pleased to hear that this is a common characteristic. Mine is very low and I've been mentally preparing for a new clutch. It's nice to know there's a cure out there - if anyone can shed light on where to get the braided hose I guess quite a few of us would be interested.

To the OP - welcome on-board, great choice of car!

The only place I've found so far is these guys on Ebay.

That's not a recommendation as I haven't ordered one - yet.

There is a small hydraulic pipe under the car - obviously full of brake/clutch fluid.
As the car warms up this pipe is affected by radiated heat from the gearbox causing it to deform which causes the low biting point feel which can get worse when the car is hot.

I have found one here for quite a reasonable price.

Quite a simple job for any good mechaninc to swop over.

As already stated the biting point should be low. I recently had a braided hose fitted, which did improve the biting point a little bit, however it also made the pedal alot lighter. Definately worth doing; you can get one on c3bmw.co.uk by clicking on this link

I think you'll probably be able to find them cheaper elsewhere but at least with this one you know it's the right one. I tried the cheaper route on Ebay, with Hose Solutions if I remember correctly, however when the garage came to fit it, it was missing the the part where the pressure switch sits.
