So, after five months and 5,000 miles I've waved goodbye to my M3. After an OKish start it really got under my skin. More refined yet capable of being more of an animal than an E46. A neat trick that. Absolutely awesome long distance mile eater in atrocious conditions too. Ah well hopefully the CSL version will be along soon and based on the fact that I think the M3 had the measure of a 997S, I'm hoping for great things.

rofl Check my profile - six months is a long time for me. Attention span of a gnat! Chopped it in for an X5sportd. which will become my day to day barge.

I have got pics but if you look back over my profile you'll see I've never managed to post pics. A genuine techno luddite me. HOW (in VERY simple words) do you do it?

It was fairly standard spec with 19" wheels and electronic dampers (a must I recon). Space grey(sounds boring but looked superb with carbon roof as opposed to Silverstone which I thought was too light) seemed to show off every scoop and curve very well too. She came out at £56.5k and I'd agreed a p/x against the X5 of £50k some time ago which my dealer honoured - despite the X5 being delayed - so I'm well pleased.

Nah, I've moved on from robbing banks. wink If you look closer you'll see that I often get the very first of 'the next must have', run it for six months or so and flog it for list (AMV8 and GT3 were examples), so it's actually often 'free' motoring. Roll on GT2, F149 etc etc! Occassionally I'll flog one straight away if it doesn't appeal for a wee premium so that helps too!

To think that I have had my BMW E36 323 since new in 1998, did buy a new Boxster 987 in 2005 but then sold it to purchase a new Disco 3 because of more kids.

Disco after only 2 and a half years now virtually worthless.

Maybe I should have gone down the latest must haves roadlaugh

Still amazed that you are getting rid of a M3 for a X5 tho'.

Only because the M3 was playing the 'everyday' role for me and tbo the X5 does it better - especially on long journeys where I want to put it in 'drive' and just get there without stressing, endangering licence etc etc.

Yep, get those orders in for cars due out in a few years time - it's the way forward and you won't regret it.smile

Oh, and in my defence, I have had the Landie for six years!
