Am thinking of buying an M3 convertible for around 25K

Why do you want an M3 convertible? Not one of the best cars dynamically and you could do better with a coupe.

Use the search facility and you will pull up lots of information on what to look for - many others before you have wondered the same, so the answers to your questions are waiting!

As to why you would want a M3 convertible - fresh air fun with 343 bhp and the ability to seat 4 people? Ok, so maybe not quite as composed at 100% as the coupe, but given most folk don't drive everywhere (thankfully!) at 100% of the car's abilities, then I suspect you'll enjoy it...

For the record, I've got the coupe and it's the best all round car I've ever owned!
