gear stick shortening

has anyone fitted a shorter gear stick in an m3 e46,I was wondering if the new m3 gearstick will fit?

There's the ZHP shift knob which is available from most of the US suppliers of BMW bits.

Why not have a look at some of the short throw gear sticks, ie Rogue Engineering and UUC. The UUC kit has a shaft which can be shortened or lengthened.
