About how much would you be expected for these? I just got a quote from a BMW dealer that both cats would cost £1968 + VAT.

Luckily I work in the trade and can get some sort of discount, so I rang an exhaust supplier and I was quoted £388 + VAT per cat converter! I still thought that was too expensive personally but comparing it to the dealer prices it's around a £1200 saving.

PS: I don't have an M5, I was just curious and wanted to check some prices for abit of comparison biggrin

Has anyone had cats fitted to an M5 and if so how much did it set them back?

PPS: I will be opening a spares shop in South Yorkshire in December selling alternators, stater motors, batteries, clutches (including Sachs and the like), bulbs, number plates and to order exhaust pieces such as catylitic converters so if anyone is in the area I'll be able to sort out a discount to fellow PH'ers.

Cats are expensive and on the E39 M5 can be seriously damaging to your health and wealth. If they go, many people change exhausts and go for different non OEM systems with or without cats....but you won't see much change for under £1200 from anybody.

That's probably what I would do too, but there are some people who purchase OEM components to preserve their warranty and so on. I honestly don't know how dealers can live with themselves with these prices, I would have trouble sleeping at night charging my customers those sorts of prices.
