Too much oil in my new M3 (E92)
Discussion
I feel quite bad today (also after reading the M5 oil check topic).
My car is again at the dealership, 2 days after receiving it back from the running-in oil changes.
I did 120 mls with the car from the oil change and notice only today that the oil level was above the max (several checks) and that as mentioned in the owner book I have to go to the dealer.
I don't know how much more oil than needed is in.
I don't know if there is any damage (car was running fine so far and no light came on)
I don't know if they will ever let me know if something bad happened (as they did the mistake)
Could someone give me more clue?
Are the damage an yes-no problem or minor damage can occur or occur in every case?
I understand that in the M5 the car give a volume of oil. In the M3, it is only too low, normal or above max.
Thanks

Interesting, I checked mine the other day and the reading was blank (i.e. after reference to the manual... unable to take a reading or above max). I put it down to "unable to take a reading" as I was driving at the time.
Mine has not had the the first service yet so still running on factory fluids. So, did the dealer confirm that it was overfilled or (to put your mind at ease) could it be a reading error??
P.S. I'll be checking mine in the morning
