Is there anyway to check the oil in a new shape m5 with a dipstick. I think the comuter or sensor is knackered. It keeps asking for 1 litre of oil ive put this in twice and no change in the oil levels whatsoever? it cant be drinking in that much oil can it? Worrying me that i may be knackering it or putting too much oil etc. no time to book it in atm either,
No there isn't.
Check the manual for the two ways of measuring the oil.
From memory, when I had my brothers E60 for 6 months. You need to drive the car for at least twenty minutes or so for the system to register that additional oil has been added.
What was the reading before you added two litres?

Is the car new? They use a lot of oil during running-in. Thereafter, I find that mine uses a litre every tow or three thousand miles.
Try the reset and check method as suggested above. You will generally get the most accurate reading on a long trip.
A litre every two or three thousand miles? That's way too much for a new car. What grade oil do you use? How many miles has it done? The higher miles the thicker oil you should use.Try the reset and check method as suggested above. You will generally get the most accurate reading on a long trip.
a reset is just checking the oil level in the menu right? ive dont this, even thio i know theres been 2 litres put in the fker is still showing under minimum and asking for another litre? plus now ive got somthing rubbing at the rear when i turn right...the m5 experiance isnt going well.
ps its an o7 plate with 10k on clock.

Contact your BMW dealer, tell them the problem and they'll probably change the diff oil to a different spec, after 3/400 miles the noise should be gone. It's a common problem which they only fix if you complain about it, BMW are aware of the issue and are dealing with it under warranty.Huliganov said:
