Trouble with my radio/cd/satnav

Hiya guys
Quick problem with my car, Its a M3 coupe 2001, over the past week or so the radio just cuts out all volume so you can still tune it in, swap tracks on the cd but no noise?????
But the weird thing is sometimes if you just swap it to tv or cd or radio hense just flick though them it`ll start working again ?? weird hay.
Any ideas what to do? oh and its not the widescreen unit its the smaller screen if that makes a difference
