Had a look round one of these for the first time on Saturday (this one http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,,1260... which someone reserved while I was sitting in it outside!). As I never seem to have the roof down on mine I am vaguely thinking that if the numbers were right I might swap over.

However, as a soft-top owner I couldn't help but notice that there is a large 'lump' in the boot on the right. The salesman said it was the recovery kit for the tyres. This seemed a bit odd as on mine the kit is a tiny thing that sites in the well behind the nearside light cluster. One of the things I thought that the coupe would give me over the soft-top was more bootspace.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what the lump is and whether it is permanent?

its the battery and tyre kit !

They put it there for the weight distribution. It is still a good size
though.

In the none M Z4s the battery is sunk into the boot. On the M it's obstructed by the exhaust so it sits up in the boot.

Anyone know if you can get a set of golf clubs in the Z4MC boot?

I knew it had to be more than just the tyre kit. Thanks for the answer.

Yes, clubs no problem unless you have one of those huge Powerkaddy bags. May have to take the driver and 3 wood out and put them in separately. Also can fit a trolley if it's a small fold-up one like mine.

Cheers. Only use a carry bag so sounds perfect!

You can get a smaller battery - massive one in it! I think its also to do with the diff I was told....

Still loads of space and as much as my golf I was amazed to read!

I too was a little disappointed to find such a large amount of space lost as a result of said items supping up the room and I have decided to look into getting a more compact battery and doing away with the compressor all together! The last time that I had a puncture was over 20 years ago and I do have recovery so what is the likely hood of being stranded due to such woes! ( I KNEW I should not have said anything on the subject, pound to a penny I get a piggin' flat know eh? ).
