Ok, so I know there are mixed views about this car, but i test drove two and I love the Z4M Coupe.

Great car, very different to my previous Boxster but very nice indeed.

I've been offered a brand new car for a good price

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

S.

Is that a main dealer? Thats been sitting around a LONG time... Would it have 3 years warranty from the day you collect?

I'm not so keen on that from what you have said...

Yes, sitting for about 1 year at main dealer. Car looks brand new.

A decent saving on new and a lot of second hand cars have been sitting the same, just 3-5k less in price with around 5k miles.

Tricky decision...

as above depends on the warranty, if its the full 3 years from first registration then i'd consider it(based on what i paid for a 3 month old car with 2000 miles and decent spec), if it hasn't then no chance!

has it got the ISOFIX? i believe this is one of the only additions to the later cars..

Know what you mean but that is a lot less. Something about having the car miles done by yourself only...

hold on a minute! didn't you just say on another thread, you p/x'd your second hand car with god knows how many miles on for 31.5k? 33k doesn't add up for a new car using your own maths! you seem to be on a one man crusade to ring down Z4M residuals yet got yourself a fantastic p/x price confused

Brand new orders were available for 35k in the summer. What's the point? Get one of the low mileage nearly new Z4Ms for 25k. You'll still take a big hit though.

I think (not saying you Taffy) that some people I suspect do have a motive on the Z4 prices. All I think is what a car for the money!

Never seen one of those for 25K, two year old roadster yes, but not coupes.

If it's such a good colour combo and spec, why's it been sitting at a dealer for two years?

My factory ordered Z4MC was only a little more than that last summer.

Nothing wrong with the spec at all. Dealer a bit away from the main cities, who says it's been sitting there? Could be BMW stock?

OK, why has it not been registered in the last two years?

1 year not two. No demand/ too high an asking price?

Not at all mate, I suggest you read my posts again, I bought the car for 37k and sold for 31.5k after lengthy negotiation and putting in another 20k for the new car, also buying a car for the Mrs and the lure of buying 5 320d's for my reps! The general opinion on every other dealer was the car was worth 27k max and some wouldn't even touch it.

I love the Z4M's but let's face facts here, BMW have screwed up the prices big time, everyone knows the RV's are ste and there are shed loads of good spec cars about, knowing what I know now and having spent the last 6 weeks getting out of the Z4, I wouldn't buy one for more than 33k, no matter how loaded or how little use it has, just my opinion of course

Yep, missed the Coupe bit. No hidden interest from me. Coming from a 993C2, very nearly bought a Z4C 3.0si. The M never really appealed due to band G tbh.

It says that the car has been sat for about 1 year not 2. With regards to the warranty you would get the full manufacturer's warranty from the date of reg; if it was from the date of build most new cars on the road would only have 2-2 1/2 years warranty on them. I think if it's the right colour and spec for you, then you should go for it. As people have said they have ordered/sourced a new car, whats to say these haven't been sat at the docks for over a year?

I can't believe how much people on this forum talk down the price on their cars so much!! It's as though the money is the only, and most important deciding factor when it comes to buying an M car. Shouldn't it be about driving and enjoying it? I think if the OP has been offered a new car for only a couple of K more than a used one it's a no brainer.

Just buy it and enjoy it!! smile

Only been sitting for under a year, being shipped for a month so I can live with that, especially in a warm showroom environment. Only difference is airbag light and I diont have kids so not bothred. When selling prices are based on reg unless facelift which the Z4M hasn't had. So great buy!

Test drove the Cayman S (second time I have driven it) and it feels just like my old 987 Boxster but slightly tighter. Completely different feel from the Z4m. To be honest, all cars depreciate and I'd rather have a new one with warranty for a change. So you lose 8k in one year - take away the dealer vat and that's not so bad, different of it was 19k, that would be a little more painful. But i dont intend to chop it out for a while. Impending marriage and kiddies means this could be my last chance of a fun car for a while - what price can you put on that wink

Best bits about Cayman S - engine yowl, gearbox and badge (lets be honest).
Worst bits - engine lack of grunt, sanitised feel, easy to drive,2 year warranty only, price

Best bits about Z4M Coupe - price, engine sound and horses, cabin, bonnet, jiggling steering wheel, looks, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up! Worst bits - storage and ride and residuals.

Head says used Cayman S, head says Z4M coupe. Had a Box, GT3 before, fancy a change. The Z4M reminds me of a bit more easier to live with car than the GT3.
