harman/kardon drive and play ipod connection

has anyone installed a h/k drive and play on their car and what do you think of it?
i want to know if they can be fitted to an e46 m3 with widescreen nav as i dont know if it has an aux input on the back of the monitor unit?.it is a 2003 52 which hasnt got the aux in port in the glovebox as i understand some later m3's had this as standard?
i dont want to use the wireless fm transmitter as they are crap but i am unsure if they can be wired directly to my factory headunit?

i put one in my 2001 m5 easy install and i put it through the wired fm transmitter (basically a piggy back on the antenna lead) i thought the way the whole systemm worked was very cool and easy, just like the ipod itself.......But the sound quality was poor and after 4mths my car battery went flat for a different reason and when i installed a new battery the h&K never worked again, i ripped it out this weekend. all in all i didnt like it!!!
